KU lost in the Elite 8 on Saturday.
I’ve lost zero pounds since February 2.
The kids of West Central Valley lost on Tuesday.
It’s Final Four weekend and I’ve lost all hope of a successful bracket.
But on a positive note, Royals Opening Day is Monday. REO Speedwagon is singing the National Anthem, and I can’t wait.
Have a […]

Final thoughts
March 26, 2007 | 100 Comments
The moment of truth is almost here. A few thoughts before the vote tomorrow…
I don’t think anyone can dispute the fact that our buildings are in bad shape. No one can realistically say we don’t need a new high school. This plan will move us farther down the right path. Will it fix every problem […]

Stuart was represented well in North Kansas City on St. Patrick’s Day. Thanks for having my back, Dad! How could anybody badmouth a giant Leprechaun doing “Ice Ice Baby”?

Alford is out
March 22, 2007 | 5 Comments
Reports are coming out today that Steve Alford has agreed to a contract with New Mexico State to become their head basketball coach next season. A news conference to announce the deal is scheduled for tomorrow morning.
It’s a good thing the University of Iowa didn’t waste any money buying firestevealford.com.
Is this a good move for […]

A Pre-emptive Strike
March 21, 2007 | 4 Comments
University of Iowa officials recently purchased seven website addresses, including firekirkferentz.com, in order to stifle some of the criticism coaches and other athletic department officials receive. At an initial cost of almost $700 plus about $25 per year per address to maintain, is this money well spent to protect the likes of Steve Alford and […]

A Tournament Prayer
March 16, 2007 | 4 Comments
Our Father,
who art in Lawrence,
Hallowed be thy Game.
Thy bracket come.
Thy upset will be done,
In Syracuse as it is in Allen Field House.
Give us this day our deserved game.
And forgive us our turnovers,
As we forgive Roy who double-crossed against us.
And lead us not into defeat,
But deliver us from East Coast bias,
For […]

-Are the winter blahs (or seasonal affective disorder for those of you who are medically inclined) kicking your butt? You might need to find a new stress reliever. Governor Culver signed into law a $1-per-pack cigarette tax increase this week.

I apologize for the delay in my responses, but blogging took a back seat for the last few days. If this post seems random and in no particular order, well, that’s because it is.
-There are and will continue to be a lot of comments on posts about the West Central Valley bond issue. One thing […]

A buddy’s father passed away, and I came back for the visitation and funeral, so I haven’t been in front of a computer since Wednesday morning. I will get to all the School Board/Superintendent sucks, Broman sucks, I suck comments in due time. But […]

Not every debate has 2 sides
March 5, 2007 | 622 Comments
“One of the great American myths is that there are two equally valid sides to everything.” Mike Hendricks wrote this in his Kansas City Star article today, and I think the quote applies well to the upcoming bond vote for the West Central Valley district.
Why are we even still debating this? The bond should have […]
