Weekly Recap
April 20, 2007 |
The biggest story of the week is unquestionably Monday’s massacre at Virginia Tech. We’d all like to think something like that could never happen to us, but the fact is it can, and it does. Ask the families of the victims. Or ask the people of Littleton, Colorado. Eight years ago today on April 20, 1999 there was a similar tragedy at Columbine High School.
There have been far too many other incidents like this across the country in recent years. Why? Is our society really that screwed up? Are these killers overmedicated? Undermedicated? Misdiagnosed? Misunderstood?
What’s the deal?
Please keep the victims of these horrific crimes in your thoughts and prayers, and be safe this weekend.

There was absolutely nothing that could have been done. Barring anyone actually having snooped through his brain, there was no way anyone would have known he was not just a threat to himself but to others as well.
This Cho kid was a pompous little d-bag who resisted any type of friendship and encouragement from others. It’s interesting that while he was railing on the elitism and classism of society, he was suffering from his own narcissistic delusions of grandeur.
I’m certainly having a hard time feeling any iota of sympathy for him. It sounds like he was given all the chances in the world to fit in somewhere, but consciously decided to reject it all.

This killer railed on the elite, but didn’t discriminate when he went on his murderous rampage.
Marenfaye, you are right, there was no logic in his actions. He was a ticking time bomb and we didn’t know when the timer would hit zero.
It is horrifying to realize that so many innocent lives were lost and they had nothing to do with Cho.
Pray for the souls of the victims.
