Weekly Recap

February 9, 2007 |

The Colts won the Super Bowl. And Stuart hired a new Chief of Police. And somebody likes me. That’s it for this week.

Have a good weekend. I need a beer. Hopefully I won’t end up like this…again.

  5. Here’s something for you to investigate:

Somehow Peg Schlichter knew the names of the 2 police chief finalists when those names hadn’t been released. In fact, at the hiring meeting, she knew EVERYTHING about this Robert Smith. So, how did she get this info?

My guess is that Stout ran the plates of all the cars at the interview meetings (I was just getting home from work about that time & seen him go by city hall several times. In fact, I followed him on one of his drive-bys) & then gave the name to Peg during their “Stout shift chit chat” at Phillips. I bet he even helped her get all the info.

Now, is this really legal? Should she have this info before it’s released?

  7. Public record. It is all public record.
If you ask they have to tell Chapter 22 Iowa Code

  9. the only way the council can release applicant info is if they had the applicants sign a waiver allowing it. I seen the applications and there was NO WAIVER included. The council cannot release it.

  11. You viewed the applications anomyous at 8:48 p.m.? I want a trace of your IP address to know who you are. Why didn’t anyone else get to see them?

  12. Anonymous on February 11, 2007 10:54 pm
  13. NO. I seen the applications the people filled out (blank ones if you need even MORE clarification) just like anyone could have had they gone up to the city hall. They were sitting on the counter for anyone to take you idiot. Guess I was just smarter than you and grabbed one when paying my light bill.

  15. Maybe I should add taht they were available for people to pick up and fill out if they wanted to apply for the job. You seem the type to need that little extra explanation. DUH

  17. 10:32, Why don’t you just ask Peg? Sounds like she actually seen the filled out one of Robert Smith’s.

  19. What’s the big deal about having an application. Anyone can get it. I bet if you called the PD office they’d send you one. Or call the city hall. Anyone can get one at any time. It’s like going to the mall and picking up applications. You can fill get one but it doesn’t garauntee they are hiring. The company will just keep it on file in case the do.

Besides, isn’t that what Carol and the IEye explained when Ron was hired? Anyone can get an application and fill it out at any time but it doesn’t mean they are hiring.

  21. Oh, and you should really stop threatening people with an “IP address trace” because it’s going to get people to not comment and then where will Nate’s site be then? That’s right, crappy. Besides, it’s not realistic. If Nate would allow that then my perception of him will change dramatically.

  23. Again public record. If you present yourself to ANY City Hall and ask for copies of the applicants that applied for Bovee position the City Hall has 10 days to provide that information under Chapter 22 of the Iowa Code. Only if the individual request confidentiality at the time of signing the app, the application can still be released, however name, address, telephone numbers, dob and ssn would need to be edited. So as the individual requesting the information cannot identify the applicant. The City then charges $.25 per page for copy fees/
However, it can only be released upon request. Documents taken without consent is considered theft

  25. Any position, not just the Bovee position, he was mentioned as the last employee to be hired.

  27. Don’t worry, I’m not giving out any IP info.

  29. what if it is court ordered?

  30. Nate on February 12, 2007 3:51 pm
  31. Then the court can go to my service provider and get it. But remember, an IP can be tricky. Your IP says you’re from Virgina, but since I know that’s just where AOL routed you I’m pretty sure you’re not from there.

  32. Anonymous on February 12, 2007 8:44 pm
  33. court orders average about $10,000. do you really have that much money to burn?

  34. Anonymous on February 13, 2007 10:54 am
  35. Does anyone know why Mick kept getting up and leaving during the council meeting? Shouldn’t he have to sit there like all the other council memebers? How can he even vote on something if he isn’t willing to hear all the information on it?

It was very rude behavior and I got the feeling that he didnt’ want to be there. If that’s the case, he needs to resign.

  36. Anonymous on February 13, 2007 10:43 pm
  37. If you want to know the reason why Mick got up and left why don’t you ask him yourself? If I was you I’d be more concerned about the council’s illegal behavior.

  38. Anonymous on February 13, 2007 10:45 pm
  39. Illegal? Ok… Let’s hear this latest conspiracy theory.

  41. Poor Stout. Peggy got fired from Phillips. Where will he go when he’s on duty to hide from working? Who will he chat with for several hours at a time when he should be patrolling? I guess he could go to her house… or just start going back to his other lady friend’s house down on south division.

Guess time will tell (not to mention everyone who sees).

  43. Nate! You coming home for the girls basketball game on Saturday?

  44. Nate on February 16, 2007 8:54 am
  45. I was thinking about it. What time is the game?

  46. Anonymous on February 16, 2007 12:11 pm
  47. Probably 7:00. I think that’s what time Wednesday’s game started.
