A Quick Post

March 29, 2006 |

I got my Stuart Herald in the mail today (yeah it’s Wednesday, a full week late but I can’t control the post office). I just have a few quick comments before I go to bed.

1. Do you think anyone in Stuart, Iowa has any interest whatsoever in iPods?
2. If I start writing nonsense about nothing can I get the title of Staff Writer for the Stuart Herald?
3. Why is the paper so devoid of pertinent info every week?
4. Am I the only one concerned about this lack of quality?
5. Is my guest column enough to keep people interested? (ok, that’s kind of a loaded question, but so what?)
5. Should I move home now so I can buy city property?
6. Are we going to make it a habit to sell city property to city council members?
7. Isn’t this a conflict of interest?
8. In the grand scheme of things does it really even matter?
9. Does anybody have any teams left in the Final Four? (I don’t.)

What do you think?

  1. Yes, it is a concern that a council sells a platted street. There is hardly any other action a city council can take that has more long term consequences. They are saying, we know better than any future council the value of this street to future generations. This is a decision lasting for the next hundred years and beyond.
The action can never be undone and comes after years of the Stuart council turning down similar requests, at least 6 times.
With a desire to be like the progressive communities east of us, we make a move like this and look more like Mayberry!
As for the final four, I do have UCLA but was blasted away in all the other brackets.
Enjoyed your Herald article this week!

  3. FYI, I am sure that is why the sales of the Stuart Herald are going down! Not enough information to care about. I only buy it when I see something interesting. Hence, I haven’t purchased one in a while….. Pretty much lost out 2nd round of March Madness!!!

  5. A nice touch to your site would be to summarize (in a paragraph or less) the useful news from the Herald each week (if there is any). That way I would have a reason to visit your site each week and also save 75 cents to buy real toliet paper instead.

  7. Is 75 cents a big deal for you? Maybe you should quit cashing the welfare check at Prairie Meadows.

  9. The city council is fairly good, if we could just get rid of one city council member………the one who shows up drunk.

  11. Oh, I forgot to add, the paper is lacking in the fundamental news department. But, the colorful ads do look nice (sarcasm).

  13. I think they need to get rid of Tyler Coe. He doesn’t always know what he is talking about. He needs to check some of his facts out first.

  15. What facts are you talking about?

I think that Tyler Coe is gay. Not to mention ignorant.
