Catching up
March 11, 2007 |
I apologize for the delay in my responses, but blogging took a back seat for the last few days. If this post seems random and in no particular order, well, that’s because it is.
-There are and will continue to be a lot of comments on posts about the West Central Valley bond issue. One thing we should remember is to not take everything at face value. From an anonymous poster or not, it’s up to the individual reader to sift through the comments and determine for him/herself what’s valid and what isn’t.
As I’m writing this there are 109 comments on a recent post. There are undeniably some good nuggets of truth on both sides of the issue, but there is a lot of pointless drivel as well. Deal with it accordingly.
I do agree with everyone who writes that the board needs to do a better job of getting the information out there and providing more explanation. I received info on Wednesday morning that I immediately posted. I have promised them I would publish any other “official” documents they send me as well.
-Some people were wondering why the comments slowed down after Friday afternoon. The vast majority of my readers visit the site while they’re at work, and my guess is that most people aren’t working after 5:00 on a Friday. It’s a normal traffic pattern for this blog. It’s like that every weekend.
-To Pekie: When I said I wanted Stuart and WCV to have everything they deserve I meant it. Nowhere in that statement did I say or imply anything about any other towns not getting what they deserve. I simply think a new high school should be built in Stuart. That’s my opinion. Obviously this is a hot topic and there are opinions all across the board, but that is mine.
You asked me to come at you, to tear you down. Why? I don’t even know you. You have a different opinion on the issue, and that’s fine. My mom thinks I should settle down and make her some grandbabies. I disagree, but I don’t tear her down because of it. I do wish more people would back up their arguments like you did though.
-To me the choice on this issue is obvious, but I realize not everyone is going to think that and not everyone is going to have the same opinion as me. That’s life, right? If the decision was that clear-cut we wouldn’t be in this position after all these tries.
I don’t have all the answers on this topic, and I’m not sure if anyone does. Maybe with a little prodding though, and a little more comment-mining, everyone can get educated enough to figure out what their answers should be.

Nate,
1)Thanks for the blog and the opportunity for people to comment. It serves a real purpose, and provides a lot of insight as to what people are feeling and in some cases, why.
2)I hope people use it constructively and not destructively.
3)Have a safe trip back. Thanks again.
As always it was good to sit back and drink a few with you over the weekend. Hopefully we’ll be drinking 22 oz. draws before long.
