  1. I know this is off topic but I am having trouble with the school website just wondering if anyone else is? You cannot click on the elementary or MS or HS links

  3. Anyone else notice how many teachers are leaving the high school this year. My son told me that Mrs. Salazar was leaving. He said that makes 4 or 5 leaving.

  5. Salazar will be missed alot as she is a good teacher and volleyball coach and good person to have in the community

  7. Hate to see Salazar go what a SHAME

  9. I have a feeling we are going to lose a lot of good teachers by next year. Read the papers and listen to what is going on at the schools. She will be missed, she could have really done well for herself in our district and it is a shame.

  13. Maybe its the parents chasing them away???? Maybe so…

  17. Having problems with the school website? Contact the school first would be a good start

  19. Alot of favoritism between teachers and some students.. Mainly the better boys and girls atheletes.. That is what makes the teacher good or not I fear.

  20. Anonymous on March 28, 2009 11:29 am
  21. 9:21am is correct. If little Bobby doesnt get an A or little Bobby doesnt get to be on the starting team it always the teacher or coaches fault.Parents always think they know more than the teacher/coach. Its that way everywhere but its especially bad at WCV.

  23. Thanks for agreeing 11:29 am

  25. if mr. gabe is gone it’s because he’s so far up in ridout he got lost.

  27. So, let me get this straight: a post about a memorial benefit somehow turns into a negative string of comments about the school.

Wow. Stuart, Iowa, you amaze me!

  28. Anonymous on March 29, 2009 7:22 pm
  29. Really not the school.. More about whiners who dont always get their way

  30. anonymous on March 29, 2009 7:30 pm
  31. Pretty sad negative posts have to be on this thread. I feel sorry for the parents. Ignore the ignorance this town has and leave your stupid comments off this thread.

  33. Salazar got a principal job somewhere. Too bad she did not get Ridout’s job.

  34. Anonymous on March 29, 2009 8:55 pm
  35. Understood Salazar was going to Dexter?

  36. Anonymous on March 30, 2009 11:51 am
  37. Salazar is going somewhere up north.

  38. Anonymous on March 30, 2009 8:23 pm
  39. so just Salazar and Jennings are leaving?

  40. anonymous on March 30, 2009 8:36 pm
  41. school web-site is down. And Salazar, Nostrom, Jennings, Swafford, and Bergson are leaving. Not Mr. Ridout! Thank goodness.

  42. anonymous on March 30, 2009 9:21 pm
  43. Yet? And you forgot to mention Kristi Gloede was basically forced to resign but that will all come out in the end.

  44. anonymous on March 30, 2009 9:41 pm
  45. Are our poor kids going to have any teachers left? What the hell is wrong with this district? All the good ones are leaving and the bad ones ya just can’t get rid of.

  46. Anonymous on March 30, 2009 9:57 pm
  47. What is wrong with this school district? The answer is, the parents. There is a very small number of parents that cause trouble, like their kids, and they are trying to ruin it for all of us.

  48. anonymous on March 30, 2009 11:00 pm
  49. I wouldn’t go so far as to blame kids. Yes there are some kids that are trouble makers but there are others that I see get horribly bullied in that school. I could name names of kids who are bullies and there parents are teachers. Although I agree with some of your comments, I think parents lead by example. There kids only do what they see there parents do which is very sad. I guess the issue I have a hard time grasping is I don’t see parents whining I see the school employees as the ones who are having the problems. Atleast thats what I understand from the union. How is it parents fault for employees having the problems with this guy?

  50. Anonymous on March 30, 2009 11:37 pm
  51. Who is Kristi Gloede?

  52. anonymous on March 31, 2009 7:46 am
  53. not sure exactly, I think she was special education teacher in the middle school or para educator. It was sad to see her go, she was so great with the kids.

  54. Anonymous on March 31, 2009 8:52 am
  55. After reading some of the posts it is obvious to me that there is apparently a number of parents that do not like Ryan Ridout or David Arnold. It also seems that the speculation is that these two educators are to blame for all the teachers leaving. Heres the solution, to all you that dislike these two men why not open enroll your kids somewhere else? That way you will be happy and you will not have to deal with these two men.I happen to think these two men bring to this district what has been lacking for quite sometime, discipline.

  56. Anonymous on March 31, 2009 4:49 pm
  57. Again, what about paying tribute to the object of this post? Get a grip, kids, think about something else for a change.

  58. anonymous on March 31, 2009 5:27 pm
  59. 8:52 am. do you also think that it is ok to have kids out on this kind of day with no coats on picking up garbage. I happen to be driving by the middle school today and seen three boys with no coats on picking up trash. I don’t think those boys parents would be to happy to know that. If I would of had a camera I would of taken a picture to show. Ad 4:49 I agree with you. It is absolutly horrible to post on this thread.

  60. Anonymous on April 1, 2009 8:39 am
  61. I agree that yesterday would have been a bad day to pick up garbage-too cold and windy.
But: I am sure those kids are the same ones who never wear coats – they think they are tough or something if they do not wear coats. Go to school during a really cold day and you will see alot of kids coming and going without coats.
I am sure the parents try, but it does no good.

  62. Anonymous on April 1, 2009 6:53 pm
  63. lots of kids wear no coats anytime of the winter

  64. Anonymous on April 1, 2009 7:53 pm
  65. Now only if we could get Sloss, Debbie Wilson, and Arnold to leave, i think we would have most of the trash gone.

  66. Anonymous on April 1, 2009 7:53 pm
  67. Oh the big B too.

  68. Anonymous on April 2, 2009 9:24 pm
  69. I think Mrs. Sloss does a terrific job and would be very disappointed if she left.

  70. Anonymous on April 3, 2009 5:45 am
  71. Lot of people who post on here must be able to do a better job being a school administrator

  72. Mary,menlo on April 3, 2009 2:46 pm
  73. I think Mrs. Sloss does an AWESOME job with our kids. My daughter loves her to death and my son always talked highly of her. He always said she was firm but was ALWAYS fair with the kids. I hope to never see her leave even long after my kids are out of there. Obviously you have never been in that school to see what Mrs. Sloss does? Every morning Mrs. Sloss is at the front door greating ALL the kids that come through that door and making sure they all get in the building safely, if a teacher is sick she takes over the class, if the lunchroom is short she is the one that helps serve the kids, she pulls recess duty, I’ve seen her do so many things above and beyond the duties of her job and anyone who thinks she should leave apparently has no kids in her school and has never seen the time she devotes to the kids of Menlo.

  74. Anonymous on April 3, 2009 9:24 pm
  75. I’ve always heard good things about Mrs. Sloss.

  77. Hey Nate, Are the people that organized the Cory Moore scholarship going to do something similar for the late Amber Sudbrock? She was such a nice young lady.

  79. I would absolutely hate to be a school admin. or teacher in your towns district with all of the gossip and slandering that goes on simply within this one blog. Your town and the sponsor of this blog may want to consider some possitive news in the :”good egg gazzette:” because this site and it;’s people;’s comments will only drive good people from your town and keep other good people away. I do not live in your town and would not consider working or living there because I would not choose to live where people gossip so severely about topics they are speculating about. The written word has an impact on REAL people and should be considered before slander is engaged in.
    1. who reads blogs? pre-teens? teens? adults who have too much time on their hands?
    2. throwing allogations around on a blog would only harm a real case which leads me to believe there are people who are trying to make a case.
    3. Your town’s schools and parents should have a better way to find out what people think (especially the parents, workers, and students) than to blog about it.
    4. It’s been proven that, in your town, people go to blogs to talk about thier problems with other people. May want to try going to a counselor or the person that you have a problem with. May want to create a satifaction survey or a town support group. Maybe even do productive things to ensure that the kids are getting the support they need. Does the school have a counselor?
    5. If abuse was occuring within the school then the adults would be obligated to report that abuse as mandatory reporters.
    6. These messages are not limited to only your town’s people. The world can see what your town chooses to write about. Everyone knows the names of the people who are being talked about and nobody knows the names of those who are talking. VERY SAFE for the speakers and VERY dangerous for the “accused” who are named and their families.
    7. Let’s pretend for a moment that the bloggers named YOU. Let’s pretend for a moment that YOU have a family. Not adults who can discern right from wrong and gossip from truth but children who search the web.
    8. If you are not impacted by the situation then don’t accuse or gossip.
    9. If you are impacted by the situation then go through the appropriate channels to have the situation taken care of.
    10. Take responsibility for your family by making sure communication is open and your children know they can talk to you about anything that they have concerns about (or another trusted adult).
    11. This blogging means gives people an excuse to make things up and accuse. Middle school students (and apparently staff) suck into gossip and the truth gets diluted with he said she said.
    12. People are crying because of the things that have been gossiped in this blogging means.
    13. If you contributed to that, be ashamed of yourself.
    14. Fight for the things that have merrit. What is right? What is wrong? Don’t fight just to fight and feel good about saying mean things. They hurt REAL people.

  81. Ridout…pack up and get out of Dodge! You don’t live in the community and you have shown you don’t care either!

  82. anonymous on April 13, 2009 10:07 pm
  83. Awww…Ridout said he thought he made a breakthru with a kid with special needs by “making him cry”…now “people” are crying about what was said…so are we making “a breakthru with ridout” in ridout’s terms? Most abusive people are remorseful when they are caught…it is a cyclic abuse. I have no remorse for Mr. Ridout…he can squirm, he can cry, he can get mad…but it doesn’t change his actions and his responsibility as a principal..and his lack of responsibility.

  84. Anonymous on April 15, 2009 8:28 pm
