My Herald Debut
January 11, 2006 |
While I was back in town for Christmas I ran into my old buddy Steve and we shared a couple of drinks up at Ruby’s. During the course of our conversation about how much I look forward to getting the Stuart Herald each week (especially because I don’t usually get it until Monday or Tuesday the following week) and reading his column, my new and fascinating blog was mentioned. We then discussed the difficulty in finding a different topic to write about each week and how hard it is to be entertaining and relevant and keep people interested in what we write. So of course after a few beers I blurted that I could help him with his column or hell, I could even write once in a while too! It’s amazing the inspiration I get when I’m at Ruby’s. I think it must have something to do with how nice and cold the beers are. They’re what I like to refer to as TCC…tooth crackin’ cold. It also doesn’t hurt that they’re about half the price of what they are at bars here so it’s a pretty good bet that I might drink a few more than normal. Anyway, I digress…back to the point of this rambling. At some point we decided that we’d give it a shot and I could write a little bit and send it in. My good sources tell me that my first column was in the paper today, as a special “At the Buzzer,” and I want to know what everyone’s thoughts are. Does it suck and I should throw my laptop in the trash or is it wildly entertaining and you can’t wait for more? Or is it hovering somewhere in between? I’m waiting anxiously for comments…

I liked the column. Nice info about the cheerleaders. I think your next story should be about your record-breaking athlete sister, who holds the record for longest 7th grade 800 and longest time on the bench. That will get a lot of responses I’m sure… mainly, “Lindsay who?? Oh, Nate’s sister? Yeah, she sucked.”
