Not so fast

July 21, 2007 |

Scratch Josephine Weston’s name off the police department payroll list. Her background check uncovered a lawsuit/lawsuits pending against her last two employers. Nothing says happy employee like a big ‘F-you’ on your way out the door. Let’s hope the other new hire can get his credits to transfer from Colorado.

  1. Whoa, wait a minute. Background checks are supposed to be confidential. Has somebody leaked some information that could instigate a lawsuit here by the mere mention of it?

  3. can you tell me why peggy took down this same news story on her blog? since she wont answer me i thought i would let her know i printed it off from her blog and will be letting the city know monday morning off the leak of information.

  7. 12:52, Peggy said why she took down her post. This blog was the first to mention the background check. Only the host knows where the information came from. I looked at both and found this one and Peggys wasn’t until 1/2 hour later and now she has removed it as should be done. This is not information that should be shared at this time, and if it is a result of the background check the city could be held liable for the information being made public.

  9. Hey what harm is done? It’s small town Iowa and your neighbor probably knows what you did last night and the night before. If not I bet he can find out!! H*** leaks are all over Washington, lots worse than this. Geeesh, everybody out to get everybody else. I’ve always said if you have something to hide it won’t stay hidden long.

  10. so they chew out one blogger about confidential info. but they cant be chewed out? doesnt make much sense. all heck broke loose when it happened back a while ago and now it is happening on these two blogs. geesh. i guess if your last name is schlichter or westre you are exempt.

  11. Wow, this is big time stuff, leaks, conspiracies, beaurocrats, privileged people…somebody better alert the FBI and CNN. Stuart is a mecca of drama.

    Some of the crazy posters above need to relax and take a look out their window so they can remember they are in Stuart and that we’re talking about Stuart government, not Watergate.

  12. Does anyone recognize these six words? Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Jairness, Caring, Citizenship. If not, then our schools have been wasting their time on the character counts program. If we don’t care or don’t want our town to be BETTER than the rest, or BETTER than federal government, then so be it.

    I’m just kidding anonymity…it just seems this situation is getting blown out of proportion. Stuff gets out in small towns. It’s nothing to get in an uproar about.

    On a sidenote, there are way too many anonymous posters on this site. If you are going to write passionately about something, why not attach your name and give it some credence.

  15. I saw a glimpse of the article in googling
    Ms. Weston’s name. It stated that the information was obtained from “Iowa Courts Online”. You can look up just about anyone or anything in the Iowa Courts on the website.
    The Court system is not private. If you want to know alot more about a case(s), it will cost you a monthly fee.

    I tried her name a couple of times on the site, sometimes getting no results and sometimes getting “over 200″ cases with “Weston”. It wasn’t consistent, but then I wasn’t sure what I was looking. So basicly I couldn’t find anything, maybe when my hubby wakes up, he can.

  16. Ok hubby is awake. He searched under Weston Jos. What he came up with was 9 entries for the same Josphine Weston with same middle name/intial and same birthdate.

    And yes there is an entry of a Weston Josphine versus City of Mitchellville/Charles Sickles. It is employment related. And due to go to court Nov, 2007

    Polk County

    This is all public information.

  17. My apologies I misspelled Josephine. It is listed as Josephine on the web site and not as I had written.
