Ruby’s Halloween Party

It’s Scary-oke time again. Join us at Ruby’s on Friday, October 31st at 9 PM for some ghoulish singing and some unearthly costumes. Prizes will be awarded for Best Costume:Male/Female and Best Costume:Couple.

Story in the Sports section of the Des Moines register on Monday…
(The first time was the charm for Jeff Jonaitis. The third time was the charm for Geoffrey Kiprotich.
Kiprotich, from Kenya but living in Coon Rapids, Minn., won the Des Moines Marathon on Sunday with a time of 2 hours, 23 minutes, 56 seconds. Jonaitis, of Chicago, broke the course record in the men’s half-marathon with a time of 1:06:51……
Marty Dalton, of Stuart, had the best finish in the Des Moines Marathon for an Iowan since West Des Moines’ Julius Rotich was second in 2005. Dalton ran the 26.2-mile course in 2:24:42 on Sunday.
“It’s been my main focus all year,” Dalton said. “I just wanted to go out there and run smart. Time wasn’t my main focus.”)
I don’t know Marty personally, but as his nieghbor and I can tell you that he is very dedicated athlete and thought residents of Stuart would be proud of his performance at the Des Moines Marathon. Congrats Marty!
