VAN METER, Iowa — Authorities said a Van Meter School district employee has been charged with sexual assault following allegations of improper conduct with a female student.

Philip Padilla, 39, of Van Meter, was arrested on Thursday and charged with third-degree sexual assault, lascivious acts with a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor — all felonies.

He was being held at the Dallas County Jail on $33,000 bond.

County officials said the investigation is ongoing and more charges could be filed.

Van Meter superintendent Greg DeTimmerman said this morning that he could not comment, but that a statement may be issued later in the day.

  3. Really, Not at WCV! Anyway, I happened to speak with an Alumni from Earlham, who had Padilla as a teacher, when he taught there. He was “Scolded” many times, but was never arrested for any of the times he was accused there. As I have said to many - IT’S ABOUT TIME!

  21. very sad…. you may be interested in the following link regarding a lawsuit by Mr. Padilla against the South Harrison School District. Shame on the “good” people of Bethany MO who thought Padilla was credible and blamed the 14 year old girls labeling them as “fabricators”. The jury found him not guilty of statutory rape even though there was DNA evidence of a sexual relationship. See

I believe it’s the newest (aka third) Stuart blog. The address is
http://www.lifeoftlc.blogspot.com. It’s pretty good. Funny too.

Third blog. *shakes head* Hmmm. Makes one wonder how Stuart got so popular all of the sudden.

  25. Stop promoting your blog on other people’s blogs, Tyler. Or have the decency to identify yourself. HAve you no shame, son?

  27. Ok, update to the Padilla story. As told to me by a credible Earlham source: As soon as he made bail from the Dallas County Jail, he was then arrested and escourted to the Madison County Jail on a probation violation for DUI. Source was unsure if he was still in jail there or not. This info was given to me last Tuesday. Sounds as if Padilla should just stay home and never leave again.

  29. Oooh, Bengals won. Sorry Nate. You do realize I am from Cinci originally? Not a huge Bengals fan, however. Never did think building a separate stadium just for them was warranted, but what do I know? I’m really more a baseball/Reds fan. Hope you survived…:)

  31. Yep, I remember something about a chili restaurant you mentioned…Sky or Skyline, something like that.

I survived the game more intact than the Chiefs’ offense, but word is that Trent Green has feeling in his fingers and toes at least.

  33. Good Afternoon Folks:

Having been one of the “Good People” of Bethany, MO, and having left town shortly after the School Board Hearings, I am tyring to follow this closely.

I am very interested in the information about Earlham having “Scolded Padilla”, and in what new developements are afoot.

I understood that Padilla Confessed then please NOT GUILTY? What’s happening here?

    Thanks,

    Non-Padilla Supporter

  35. I dropped in a note yesterday on this. I was wondering if anyone had more “Status” on Padilla, and his trial.

Also information from Earlham that Padilla was “scolded” many times. Is there credible confirmation of that?

    Thanks,

    Steve McGregor
