Weekly Recap
August 17, 2007 |
- The school debate is still raging on. Are we any closer to a solution? There are some good ideas floating around here and here.
- More and more ethanol plant workers are making their way to town. We should be nice to these guys and take care of them. They’ve taken care of other cities they’ve been to before.
- Here’s another example of Iowans going out of their way to do the right thing.
- Fantasy football is rapidly approaching. Are you ready?
Loverboy is playing a free show at the Iowa State Fair Saturday night. See you there!

Great recap Nate!! It is great to see already the impact of the ethanol plant workers shopping and dining in town. They are surely having a positive impact on many of the local businesses.
Also, thank you for reminding us of the true core values represented by Iowans in doing the right thing. Just think what if every Iowan would seek to do one right thing everyday??? We might change the state motto to PAY IT FORWARD.
Nate, thanks for coming home and sharing why we need to be grateful everyday.
did you sign either of the petitions nate?
his neighbor marnie did.
OMG! THE HERALD I HEAR MIGHT PUBLISH THE NAMES OF THOSE WHO SIGNED THE PETITION! GO HERALD! ROCK On!
I didn’t sign it. I haven’t seen it yet.
I knew exactly what I was signing when the petition was brought to my home. The police department called and didn’t ask if it was my signature. They questioned the legality of the petition and also asked if I understood what I was signing. This is pure and simple harassment by the city. I will be calling the Ombudsman’s Office first thing Monday morning.
Remember, your names are released to the public after an investigation by the Ombudsman.
Really, Peg only had 17% of the populaition of Stuart signing the petition. Now, I hear people are saying they didn’t sign it or were misled. I believe that they can ask for their names to be taken off and if their names were forged they will probably sue. I hope Peg has some money. Wait! She doesn’t even pay taxes, so how can she complain about her tax money being misspent!
but would you sign nate?
I don’t think so.
2:16 The names of people who call the Ombudsman’s Office in this case are not released to the public. If and when the case is advanced by the DCI or DOJ the names of those who filed a complaint are sealed by the Court.
The names are released to the city officials, not to the public, unless the Ombudsman grants the names to the public. But, yes, the city officials DO know. That’s how the Ombudsman’s office proves the validity of the cases it researches. I would know, as I have contacted them about it.
It is quite compelling about what goes on in this town.
TC is charged with one charge then charges are dismissed. MB is charged with two charges and he pulls out an Alford plea. Now PS is being investigated. Does everyone remember how Peg (PS) made a big ‘ol deal about TC and MB? What goes around must come around. MB filed a paper to get done with his charges, TC let the special prosecutor file to have his charge dismissed and it is dismissed, and now ‘ol Peggy is being investigated herself. One question - will you blog about your charges?
Here kids, live and learn. When you grow up and have to deal with life I hope you can handle it. Iowa Code: 362.4 Petition of eligible electors.
If a petition of the voters is authorized by the city code, the petition is valid if signed by eligible electors of the city equal in number to ten percent of the persons who voted at the last preceding regular city election, but not less than ten persons, unless otherwise provided by state law. The petition shall include the signatures of the petitioners, a statement of their place of residence, and the date on which they signed the petition.
The petition shall be examined before it is accepted for filing. If the petition appears valid on its face it shall be accepted for filing. If it lacks the required number of signatures it shall be returned to the petitioner.
Petitions which have been accepted for filing are valid unless written objections are filed with the city clerk within five working days after the petition is received. The objection process in section 44.8 shall be followed. ‘Names on a petition are a group of people objecting to something or promoting something. It is at the polls where it counts and you can’t get any satisfaction there as to how someone has voted. Many times people sign a petition and vote the opposite, so grow up.’
And letters of objections were filed. Simple as that, so you grow up! PEGS A FRAUD!
4:05 I wasn’t aware that charges had been filed against Peggy. When did a citizen give up his or her right to question city government or petition the city council? Some council members and some of their vocal supporters are good at name calling but they have no proof of anything they say. Their only answer has been to try and intimidate and scare people. There comes a time when people have to stand up for responsible government.
Letters of objection have been field and that is all I know. When a citizen says there signature was forged in a letter to the city, I tend to believe them.
you arent going to win Dorothy (Dodi) Korradi when you run for city couniL! Your participation this petition will make sure of that!

back to the school subject?
No thank you. I prefer to linger on Peg some more.
4:20- If you are saying that Dorothy Korradi is not going to win, I agree with you 100%. Who in the hell is going to vote for a rat-faced, spiteful, ignorant, whiny bitch? She likes to point fingers and prod others into signing things without giving them the whole facts. She is deceitful and self-absorbed. She thinks that her words speak the truth for everyone else, but she is wrong. There is no way in a million years that a community with their head on their shoulders would vote for a woman like her to make any decisions for anyhone but her self.
10:38 p.m.: You are the best person ever. I would love to meet you! I couldn’t have said it better myself. Go 10:38 p.m.!
You REALLY need to go check out TLC’s old blog! Do you know if it’s true???
10:56-Thank you so much! I usually don’t speak up for myself and others so clearly as that, but I have had enough of people like her trying to intimidate others with her “holier than thou” talk of what it right. I am so glad to hear from you, as it gives me hope that I am not the only one who sees through her!
10:33 - This is the person who commented to you. PLEASE RUN FOR CITY COUNCIL! We do not head the self-proclaimed “Saviors of Stuart” running this town. They are anything but that. If you would ever like to meet up, I would love to meet you. You rock!
NATE!!! Your tree is dying!
Whew!
Nate….don’t this crap just make you proud? Proud to be back to good ole Sturt?????
Both of these blogs reak of TC’s rantings. Hope he is having a good time, because it is really sickening. See ya. The lawyer told him to get rid of his blog, and shazam! gone! Still doesn’t keep him from going anonymous, now does it? your town has more than just a few stinkers. some really bad apples in this barrell.

Just wondering … Did you call the Ombudsman?
