Weekly Recap
March 22, 2008 |
- As with most years, my tournament bracket is already shot. I should just buy a lottery ticket. At least those have something like a 1-in-a-million shot.
- Drake’s fantastic season came to a screeching halt yesterday, losing to Western Kentucky on a last second 3-pointer. Over the last 7 years, #12 seeds have won outright over #5 seeds almost 40% of the time. Damn statistics.
- Tuesday is a big day for the West Central Valley district. Polls will be open from 7am to 8pm
Polling places are:
Stuart–First Congregational Church
Menlo–Community Building
Dexter–City Hall
Redfield–City Hall
Get out and vote.

I think if everybody would just shut up about the schools we would be better off enough papers enough phone calls
I hope 100 people call me or send me letters about the bond issue and voting on Tuesday. It shows that people care and are willing to work for the betterment of others.
This is an important issue that we should all be informed of and have a say in the outcome.
The facility problems won’t go away on their own, so go vote Yes and you won’t have to worry about people bothering you about solving this problem anymore.
Lets go for number 7!
congrats to the youth wrestler, i talked to mike renslow the coach and they had 8 out of 11 3rd-8th graders qualify for state next week at vets, and they just got back from waterloo with the k-2 wrestlers where korbin nourse and carson wadle both got 5th in the state. good job boys and coach mike renslow

Yes it is for the children says everyone. Now lets see what happens when it comes time to build it.
Yes! Finally, enough people have realized that a new school needs to be built. Enough of the fighting-let’s focus now on what is best for the children-not for what is best for those grumpy and upset about the whole deal.
For the children HAH!!!!!!!
If you don’t beleive it is for the children, then you do not talk to the kids or listed to them.
My kids have came home from school (in 3 different buildings) and talked about not being able to use restrooms or get drinks because of water pipes breaking, talked about water leaking inside the rooms, and for years there have been some bad smells in one building. They may have finally gotten this under control.
Our kids should not have to deal with these issues.
It is our duty to have them in same buildings without water issues, mold issues, fear of part of the building falling, fear of the cracked gym wall causing problems, and other such stuff.
I would not keep my home in a condition like this.
The vote was “For the Children” and long overdue.
Yep, I agree you wouldn’t keep your home in that condition because you would properly maintain it! Get real.
Whatever 4:11 PM, time to get over it already.. Heck, the school in Menlo was old when I was in it 30 years ago. I have been back the last few years and it isn’t getting any better. I realize some maintenance has to be done, but at some point you have to start to weigh the pluses and minuses, cut the losses and move on. I also attended the condemned wing in Stuart 35 years ago, I think the roof may have leaked then, both of these have served the communities well over the years, but nothing lasts forever. Your home may be 100 years old, but most likely not as much square footage to maintain as these buildings. I don’t have any children in our school system, but I was willing to make the commitment to help those that do, and am proud of it ! Thanks, and have a nice day.
