Hello Real World

It’s graduation time again. West Central Valley’s commencement ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 23 at 11am at the football field in Stuart. Wear sunscreen!

Maybe it’s just me, but is anyone else concerned that we have more finishers from the alternative school than we have students graduating with a GPA above 3.5? Am I just reading the newspaper wrong? It worries me a little I guess. Regardless, I wish all the graduates the best of luck in the future. School grades don’t necessarily translate to success down the road anyway, but they can’t hurt.

Congratulations West Central Valley class of 2009!

  3. Stuart should be proud of the alternate school program. If a kid does not have a high school diploma, he or she will be working at burger king or McDonalds for the rest of their lives. The kids that actually have the requirements for graduation are going on to higher education. Good for them! They will be the ones that run our town or state in the future. support our schools and don’t bring them down.

  5. Just because you have a diploma doesn’t mean you are going to have a succesful life. Most of the graduates from this school won’t even go to college. They’ll end up working at Mcdonalds or not working at all and living off the government. I go to school with these kids, and I know most of them, and I can’t say that I’m impressed with the way they are taking their education. I’m not saying that I’m the best student and they should all be like me, but most of the kids at WCV don’t take school seriously. And I also know the ones that go to the alternative school, and the reason they are in there is so they don’t have to work as much. Alternative is just that, an alternative to working hard. It is easier and requires less brain function than that of a regular school. It is only a half day and less work. It’s just a way for kids to pass easier and to be lazy.

  7. Well Christian H. You should be proud of what you are accomplishing. Do what is right for you and don’t worry about the other students. The diploma is something that you earn, whether it is alternative or regular. We will have at least a 1/4th of the class going to college. If they make it, it is up to them. Look out for yourself.

  9. IM JUST GONNA THROW THIS OUT THERE PEOPLE SHOULDNT BE ROUGH ON THE ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL KIDS YES SOME OF THEM MAKE VERY BAD DECISIONS TO BE THROWN IN THERE BUT OTHERS DO VERY MINUSCULE THINGS TO BE PUT IN THERE

  11. Whether it is miniscule or major, they still did it. Why would you not punish someone for stealing a dollar and then punish them for stealing 5 dollars? It’s still stealing, now matter how you see it.
